Photographing Weddings the old fashioned way, using film…

Over the years wedding photographers have changed the way they shoot weddings. The introduction of digital photography has meant that less “old school” film is used, which is a real shame because film still has a lot to offer and results in some beautiful photos. It may be more expensive but I always try to bring along a couple of rolls of film when photographing weddings, which I use in addition to high quality modern digital SLR’s. I find that using film stops me from becoming lazy as it makes you think about every photo in terms of light and time and also means that when you then go back to the digital camera you are still considering all of the options. I also keep my old 1970’s and 1980’s film cameras in decent condition so that I can get authentic results. Every camera is different and offers something new. Grainy old black and white photos have a timeless feel and offer a subtle alternative to digital photos. Slide film also offers real quality with very fine grain and beautifully saturated colours. Many of the photos on my website are shot on film. Take a look at the wedding galleries to see some examples…
