Indian Wedding at Birling Manor

Neerja and David’s wedding photos at Birling Manor have now been edited and a link has been sent to the couple.

As recommended photographer it is always a pleasure to take photos at this amazing venue. Set in beautiful countryside close to Birling Gap and Beachy Head, Birling Manor is one of my favourite wedding venues. The wedding party are left to get on with their celebration and there is always a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere to weddings here. Neerja got ready for her big day at Belle Tout Lighthouse near Beachy Head. It was shame the weather wasn’t better as it would have been great to photograph Neerja with the dramatic lighthouse and rugged coastline.

In spite of the grey overcast and misty weather the wedding was bright and colourful. This Anglo Indian wedding was a fantastic celebration with guests from all over the world (India, Canada, Kenya and the UK). Everyone made a real effort to embrace the traditional Indian Wedding culture.

The service took place in a teepee and included Agni (fire blessing) and Shaddra/Karuna (blessing from the elders). Another tradition is the shoe stealing tradition and it is rumoured that David had to pay over £350 to buy his shoes back from the “sisters”.
