The Wedding Industry is big business. Consequently there are lots of companies out there that offer routes to the customer and lots of advertising options for wedding business owners to consider. As a wedding photographer I am approached regularly by companies promising me the world and usually costing me the earth! From invitations to advertise in quality newspapers to flyers and mailshots… The important thing is to find your target audience.
After photographing weddings for ten years I find that most of my wedding bookings come from direct recommendation, so don’t generally advertise that much, especially in magazines or press. The one exception to this rule is “Your Sussex Wedding”, who I have advertised with regularly. They create a beautifully designed magazine that appeals to couples getting married in Sussex. They sell the magazine throughout Sussex and distribute the magazine free at all of the big Sussex wedding fayres. They also send me lists of attendees to the wedding fayres and have a website for advertisers to promote their services.
